Mortality and working away life

I used to work as a mascot for a hockey team. the manager found me,dancing along the side of the road with a sign and a V for Vendetta mask on. So,i got the job and worked it for several weeks and then suddenly, just the other weekend,i up and quit. Why?
While i was sitting at home,i had an epiphany. That i was working far too much, and not spending enough time with my family. At any moment,my life could be taken away from me,and just that thought alone sent chills down my spine. That every moment is valuable and to be cherished. So i called my boss, and quit. No notice, nothing. I just coulndt find it in myself, for another moment,to work for the machine and have my family suffer for it.

We are such a weak species, both in body and in mind. But,when we have the will, can be as ferocious as a  bear, fast as a cheetah and as brave as a lion. Interesting, these humans are....
Am i separating myself from humanity? I tend to step outside of it,and gaze at it with a different view than most. A look, like a child at ants through a magnifying glas. A creepy thought indeed! Every once and a while tho,you need to step back and realize just how fragile we are,to really see our true strengths.
